Starting Yoga

So since it's finally summer, i decided to take up some new hobbies! Sitting at home 24/7 can be chill... for a few days. Then you start to get 'school sick.' As weird as that sounds its true. You start thinking about how fun school actually is, if you forget about that actual learning part. Hanging out with your friends all day, catching up on the new drama, failing your tests...all such fun times (minus the last part). But since I can't do anything about that, might as well take up some new hobbies and make the best of your free time. So as i was going through my feed on instagram, i saw this cool post of a girl doing yoga on the beach. That post got me intrigued I started pinteresting and googling and found out all there was about yoga! In my research I explored the benefits and there were soooooo many: getting in touch with your body and soul, relaxing, gets rid of stress, strengthens the body, and believe it or not theres 100's of more benefits. There's not a lot of things you actually need so i decided to try it out! Things you need to start yoga: 1. Yoga mat 2. A body 3. Music (optional) 4. Positive attitude Here are some of the steps that helped me start: Step 1: Find a place You need to be in a relaxed and quiet environment. So I wouldn't recommend doing yoga near a busy street or a noisy living room. You could do it in your backyard, basically any quiet place you can find (spare room, bedroom). Personally I like to do my yoga outside because the sounds of nature relax me. I live on the river so I usually go down to the dock and do it there. I just love the sound of the water, it's so calming. I also put on a yoga radio in itunes radio to calm me. Step 2: Yoga positions. Now this is probably the most time consuming thing and most important thing. Before you actually start yoga, you need to learn how to do yoga. Don't worry it's not that hard! I would recommend pinterest for good yoga positions. I would start with beginners yoga poses. There are hundreds of youtube videos as well so check those out as well! Start easy and build your self up. Step 3: Relax. Forget about any stressful thing in your life and breathe. Let everything go! And have fun with your self! This was a very vague I know but there isn't much you need for yoga. xx Nov.
